WELCOME
Hi
everyone. Welcome to my blog. My name is Kajal Rani. The topic of my blog
is Techniques for virtual teams. A virtual team is a group of individuals who
work together from large distances either through Skype, video conference, or
voice conference. A virtual team is also known as geographically dispersed
team, distributed team or remote team because the members of the virtual team
are located in different parts of the world. Unlike traditional teams, virtual
team members don't meet each other daily. Virtual teams has helped to
increase globalization to a higher extend. As it is important to learn
about the today's trends in the society, I have decided this particular topic for my blog. This is
to increase my reader's knowledge about the virtual teams. I hope you will
enjoy reading this. Please feel free to leave your comments and opinions.
Virtual teams allow companies to produce the best talent without geographical restrictions. Members of virtual teams communicate electronically and may never meet face to face. There should be a sense of co-operation and unity among the team members.
A MODEL FOR VIRTUAL TEAMS
According to Lipnack and Stamps, “Virtual teams have three facets: purpose, people, and links"
1. Purpose:
A purpose is very important to form any
virtual team as it holds the team together. This is because the purpose is the
only reason due to which different people from long distances communicate with
each other. There is no use of wasting anybody’s time without any purpose. Only
the people with specific or similar purpose share their views. The purpose act
as a glue between different members of the team.
2. People:
People are the role models in a virtual team.
It is the behavior and abilities of a person which is responsible for the
better outcomes of a company. It is beneficial to have a team member who is
responsible and who have knowledge and experience about the topic for which the
team has formed. It is more profitable if all the people in the
team come forward to participate as much as possible.
3.
Links:
Links are the various connections among the
group members. These are the ways by which the people communicate. These links
can be either face to face communication (video calls) or messaging etc. These
links are very important to build up relationships between the team members.

Is this model (purpose, people, links) appropriate or there should be any changes?
